Summary
South Hills Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a full-time 6th Grade Science Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the wonders of science, foster critical thinking skills, and promote a love for learning. This position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and curiosity.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive 6th-grade science curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes inquiry-based learning.
- Create lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students have access to the curriculum.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to enhance student engagement and understanding of scientific concepts.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages collaboration, respect, and open communication among students.
- Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to integrate cross-disciplinary approaches and support students’ overall development.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in science education and pedagogy.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance, behavior, and academic progress.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other school activities as needed.
- Contribute to the school community through participation in meetings, committees, and school events.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Middle School Science or equivalent.
- Previous teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of 7th-grade science curriculum and state educational standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources to enhance learning.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment for all students.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.
