We are looking for a Senior Configuration Management Specialist to join our team. The role is critical to ensuring the integrity, traceability, and compliance of all software and firmware configuration items throughout the product lifecycle, adhering to strict industry standards (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254). You will be responsible for defining and enforcing CM policies and managing the change control process. You will be part of the Software Foundation team within the Software, Simulation and Systems (S3) organization. The Software Foundation team is responsible for developing common software plans, standards, processes, tools and software certification for all aircraft and ground systems software.

This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View HQ office 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days.

In this role you will have the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on aviation by setting up operational, efficient, and effective CM processes and policies being a part of the Software Foundation team for an autonomous passenger carrying eVTOL service.

What you will do:

  • As part of the S3 Organization, you will act as a CM Specialist for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.

  • You will define and own CM plan and processes (configuration identification, baseline management, change control).

  • You will define, create, and control baselines (development, integration, release) for all software configuration items.

  • You will standardize Git/GitLab workflows (branching, MR approvals, tagging, releases).

  • You will ensure reproducible builds and controlled toolchains.

  • You will govern release configuration items across teams in the S3 organization.

  • You will establish and support change control (PR/CR/CCB), including logging and reviewing all proposed changes to baselined configuration items, as well as ensure proper impact assessment and authorization of implementation.

  • You will ensure traceability across requirements, code, and tests.

  • You will ensure the accurate recording and reporting of the status of all CIs, including their approval status, version history, and change implementation progress.

  • You will prepare and support audits (evidence, configuration records).

  • You will enable teams via guidelines, training, and automation.

  • You will drive initiatives to continuously improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and maturity of the CM processes.

Requirements

  • BS in CS, EE, or equivalent, with minimum of 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in configuration management.

  • Experience in CM in safety-critical or regulated environments.

  • Solid knowledge of DO-178C (or equivalent).

  • Strong Git-based workflow experience (e.g., GitLab).

  • Experience defining and governing processes across multiple teams.

  • Understanding of traceability, baseline management, and change control objectives.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation skills and able to work with a cross functional team.

Desired:

  • Experience with CI/CD and build reproducibility.

  • Experience in setting up and managing a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline for safety-critical systems.

  • Familiarity with requirements and life cycle data management tools.
