Middle School Math Teacher 












This position is part of the FRCSTA bargaining unit.  Salary is commensurate with experience, including education level and professional-level years of service.



Reports to: Building Principal or Designee 



Location: Middle School



Subject: Mathematics

Job Summary:


Teaches Mathematics subject matter and skills to all students, contributing to their development as mature, knowledgeable, and responsible learners. Candidates should be able to demonstrate mastery of high school-level mathematics content and the Common Core State Standards, a proven ability to manage a classroom, the desire and ability to meet the standards of a high-performing team, and an entrepreneurial spirit and approach to teaching.





Responsibilities:


The successful candidate for this position will:



  • Demonstrate knowledge of the state and school district curriculum and academic standards, including knowledge of the ways in which learning takes place and the appropriate levels of cognitive, social, and emotional development for adolescents; 

  • Establish a respectful environment for a diverse student population, fostering a classroom learning environment in which each child has a positive, nurturing relationship with caring adults and other children.

  • Facilitate learning for all students using a variety of instructional methods, to provide students with opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, encourage exploration of ideas, and develop leadership qualities.

  • Reflect on teaching practices, analyzing student learning, development, and growth, and apply what is learned to improve instruction;

  • Demonstrate leadership, advocate for the school and its students,s and exhibit high ethical standards;

  • Take responsibility for student academic growth using a variety of assessments and ongoing improvement of instructional practice.

  • Regular attendance is an essential function; absences should be rare and in alignment with district attendance and punctuality standards

  • Responsible for implementing other job-related duties as needed


 


 


 Qualifications- Required:



  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Will be required to be SEI Endorsed within one year of employment 

  • All Commonwealth charter teachers must either have an appropriate license or pass the required MTEL(s) within the first year of employment in a teacher role at the Commonwealth charter school. You can learn more about Licensure Requirements through DESE HERE

  • Demonstrated subject matter competence, highly qualified, in the area of licensure

  • Candidates are subject to background checks, including CORI clearance and fingerprinting

  • Current authorization to work in the United States - 

  • Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment. 


 


 


 


 


Qualifications- Preferred:



  • Master’s Degree preferred 

  • Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in the appropriate content area

  • Experience working in an urban school district

  • Proficiency in multiple languages, reflecting our diverse student population


Work Environment & Physical Requirements:


The majority of work is performed in a school or classroom environment, which usually has a moderate noise level. Regular attendance is necessary; absences should be rare and in alignment with district attendance and punctuality standards.


 


Physical Requirements:


 


While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to kneel, stoop, bend, and crouch.  The teacher is periodically required to stand while talking and listening.  The teacher is occasionally required to sit, walk, lift, or carry.
