Job Description

United Veterans Beacon House (UVBH) is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and supervision of department staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 
  • Minimum 6 years of accounting experience. 
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. 
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel. 
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector is preferred. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Controller in overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end and year -end close processes. 
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of accounting operations, including general ledger, A/P, A/R and payroll support.
  • Supervise, support, and develop accounting department staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for leadership review. 
  • Coordinate with auditors during annual audits and ensure timely completion  of audit requests and deliverables. 
  • Support implementation and improvement of accounting systems, processes, and procedures. 
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, GAAP standards, and all applicable reporting requirements.
