Job Summary and Qualifications
Seeking a Lead Medical Technologist / Medical Technologist Trauma Lead to provide expertise and champion results. We are an amazing team that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you who feels the patient experience is as meaningful as we do.
POSITION SUMMARY
- Performs stat and routine clinical laboratory testing in technical discipline areas in which individual and department are licensed under the direction of a laboratory supervisor, manager or director. Performs duties consistent with written procedures and regulatory requirements. Applies theoretical concepts of laboratory medicine using independent judgement to ensure timely and accurate results.
- Maintains licensure, competency, and is regulatory scheduled in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology sections of the laboratory. Performs non-technical duties including, but not limited to specimen collection, processing and referral testing within the department as required. Works evening or night shift and serves as the primary laboratory point of contact for the facility trauma team on assigned shift
- Supports the department in achieving department goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, healthy work environment, and integration of intra and inter-departmental activities.
You Will:
- Serve as the primary laboratory point of contact for the facility trauma team and assume responsibility of the department as appropriate in the absence of the supervisor
- Coordinate all blood bank and laboratory diagnostic services to support facility trauma cases
- Maintains current knowledge of external and internal quality indicators and standards and appropriately communicates quality metrics to staff
- Reports any identified quality issues throughout the lab and perform quality control procedures per protocol
- Analyze proficiency testing samples and perform stat procedures within established turnaround time targets
- Reviews pending logs (OSR) and result logs; resolves any outstanding workload or communicates to staff relief
- Receives the daily shipment of blood products, check temperature and compare the list against all the blood product numbers
You Should Have:
- A 2-Year/Associate Degree in Science is required
- A 4-Year/Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology is preferred
- A State of Florida Technologist License OR the ability to obtain a license during the interview process
- 3-5 years of experience in blood banking/immunohematology, chemistry, and hematology
