Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and student-centered educator to serve as a Middle School Math/ELA Teacher. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in both mathematics and English language arts, fostering critical thinking, and supporting the academic and social-emotional development of all students. The ideal candidate creates an engaging classroom environment that promotes literacy, numeracy, and a love of learning while meeting the diverse needs of middle school learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in both mathematics and English language arts.
- Develop and implement engaging lessons that support problem-solving, reading comprehension, writing, and communication skills.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction, to meet diverse student needs.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and behavior expectations.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, intervention specialists, and support staff to enhance student achievement.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Integrate technology effectively to enhance instruction and student learning.
- Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school initiatives.
- Support building and district goals and contribute to a positive school culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid state teaching license with appropriate middle school certification in Math and/or English Language Arts.
- Strong understanding of middle school curriculum, instructional strategies, and adolescent development.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Effective classroom management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout the classroom.
- Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and classroom supplies (up to 25 pounds).
- Ability to operate classroom technology and equipment.
Working Conditions
- School classroom environment with moderate noise levels.
- Daily interaction with students, staff, and families.
- May include duties such as hallway, lunch, or bus supervision.
- Work follows the academic school calendar with occasional evening events (e.g., conferences, family engagement nights).
