- Knowledge of and ability to implement the subject matter, philosophical, social, and educational concepts relative to the duties and responsibilities listed on this job description
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- As a Director of Learning
- Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health and recreation education, rhythms and dance, and individual, dual, or team sports to secondary pupils, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program, adapting daily schedules to accommodate weather conditions and to provide time for changing clothes, showers, instruction, exercise, and sports activities
- Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, aquatics, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement
- Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, to the extent feasible
- Researches and develops appropriate innovative activities with District approval…utilizing available resources
- May teach one or more extra-curricular classes
- Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to insure the overall safety of pupils
- Maintains surveillance over storage and use of such items as school-owned uniforms, towels, lockers, equipment, and supplies to prevent loss or abuse, working through student monitors or locker room attendants where appropriate
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas
- Evaluates each pupil’s growth in physical fitness, and in physical skills and knowledge. Assesses each individual’s contribution to the performance of the team sports. Prepares progress reports
- Relationships
- Allots time for individual student conferences
- May plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, or other professionals
- Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
- Communicates with parents and school counselors on the individual pupil’s progress
- Professional Attitude, Responsibilities and Participation
- Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and/or on a District level. May teach under modular or flexible scheduling plans
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day
- Cooperates with school in providing and supervising participating groups for activities such as Open House, PTA meetings, rallies, assemblies, and interscholastic athletic events
- Selects and requisitions uniforms, equipment, instructional aids, and instructional supplies, and maintains required inventory records
- Performs basic attendance accounting and business services as required
- Shares in sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees

Requirements / Qualifications
All of the following documents are required for this position:
-Appropriate CA Single Subject Credential authorizing service in Physical Education
-English Learner Authorization (ELAM, ELA1, CLAD & BCLAD) All accepted
-Letter of Introduction

-3 Current Letters of Recommendation

Salary Info
Daily Substitute Rate: $185/Day, $200 Long term rate. $250 Friday's

This position is for a PE long-term substitute teacher at Mission Hills High School.
This position is only 60%, meaning you would only be teaching periods 3, 5, & 6.
