Position: Treasury Accountant
Department: Finance
Status: full-time position
Reports to: Assistant Manager, Treasury
Location: Toronto, Hybrid
Salary Range: $50,000 – 60,000
Role Type: Replacement

Your Career Opportunity:
The Treasury Accountant plays a pivotal role in supporting the financial operations of the company. Working closely with Senior Accountants and Treasury Managers, you will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, performing various accounting and treasury tasks, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for career growth in accounting and treasury management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily cash balance reports and periodic cash flow reports. 
  • Maintain and update vendor banking details within the Treasury Management System in accordance with established internal control procedures and banking verification protocols.
  • Prepare treasury-related month-end journal entries and reconcile treasury and balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reporting.
  • Review and verify payment documentation to ensure transactions are properly authorized, supported, and compliant with company policies prior to processing.
  •  Process bank payments via wire transfers, EFTs and ACHs and Support dual-authorization payment processes.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly trust account reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Monitor daily incoming and outgoing cash flows to identify discrepancies, liquidity gaps, or unusual transactions.
  • Assist with internal and external audit processes by providing requested documentation, reconciliations, and explanations of financial transactions. 
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and operations, to gather financial information, address inquiries, and support business initiatives. 
  •  Identify opportunities to streamline Treasury accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen internal controls. 
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records by recording treasury transactions in the general ledger and performing timely bank reconciliations.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills, Attributes Required

  • Communication & interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • ORACLE, Hyperion and TTS /GESTION/VAX skills
  • Strong working knowledge with Monarch, Excel and Access
  • Independently motivated self-starter that can operate effectively as a team player
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines


Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • University/College degree or certificate in Accounting, or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Treasury
  • Enrolled in the CPA professional program would be an asset
  • An understanding of the travel industry would be an absolute asset


Working Conditions

  • Hybrid role, requiring 2 days per week in our Toronto office.
  • Monday to Friday from 9:00 am EST to 5:00 pm EST
  • 5 hours per week
  • The position will require occasional overtime, during month-end and at year-end
