- Three (3) years documented experience in the particular trade or craft
- A valid Florida Commercial Driver's License or agrees to obtain within ninety (90) days
- Physical Requirements: Ability to do strenuous physical tasks during the performance of duties, to include lifting up to 100 pounds, crawling, kneeling, bending, stooping, pulling, pushing, etc.

- Possess a contractor's license in some capacity
- Supervisory experience in a maintenance and operations related organization

- Mastery of proper use and care of equipment, tools and materials related to the particular trade or craft
- Supervises and coordinates the activities of the mechanics engaged in installing, servicing, and repairing HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) and refrigeration units utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipe- fitting and structural layout.
- Types of equipment to be maintained and serviced are exhaust systems equipment, walk-in coolers, reach-in freezers, reach-in refrigerators, ice machines, water coolers, and all types and sizes of air conditioning systems, from DX units to water-cooled chillers.
- Repairs installed units by examining visually for defective parts, or determines the cause of the malfunction by performing tests, utilizing knowledge of mechanical, electrical and refrigeration theory.
- Must have extensive knowledge and total understanding of HVAC operations, i.e. heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment control sequences and all other associated components.
- Mounts compressors and condensing units on platforms or floors using hand tools.
- Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape using cutting and bending equipment and tools.
- Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings, or unions and soldering joints, using a torch, forming a complete circuit for refrigerant.
- Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating-ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source.
- Be proactive in identifying preventative maintenance needs with all School Board HVAC equipment.
- Maintains a program that tracks use of refrigerant utilized in day-to-day operations.
- Maintains proper operation and condition of all tools and equipment.
- Operates vehicles in a safe and lawful manner.
- Maintains all required paperwork and records (daily/weekly).
- Performs related work as required.
