UTHealth Houston's research support team is looking for someone who will serve as the bridge between users and our Information Technology support for electronic systems. The Business Analyst supports the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of systems (software, hardware) used for research compliance, particularly those supporting Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) processes. This role works closely with research administration staff, compliance officers, investigators, and IT teams to translate regulatory and operational needs into system solutions. You will be doing basic tasks such as editing existing forms in the programs, training new staff to use tools, and dealing with vendors who provide high-level technical support. You will need to be able to make small adjustments and run reports.

Position Summary:
Designs, develops, and implements new or enhanced business processes in support of new or enhanced information systems and technology. Provides business expertise in support of business process changes for information systems projects. Identifies opportunities for business process improvement and initiates projects to make improvements with or without deploying information technology.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Analyzes current business processes, suggests improvements, and participates in the design of new business processes and systems.
- Conducts business systems analysis and design, data modeling, process flow modeling, and process reengineering. Analyzes business processes and reviews existing information systems. Interviews users. Analyzes process flows and identifies opportunities for improvement. Maps existing business processes. Documents existing business processes and business rules.
- Prepares business cases, including cost/benefit analysis for proposed processes.
- Participates in the design of new systems that support business processes. Designs and implements new or improved business processes. Reviews new system designs and functions. Compares differences between existing systems and new systems. Design system modifications. Designs interfaces to other systems. Identifies data, interfaces, and test requirements. Designs and executes systems tests, acceptance test scripts, and procedures. Develops and leads communications for system implementation efforts. Helps to ensure referential integrity of the data model.
- Develops reports and documents for existing business processes and business rules. Identifies reporting requirements.
- Develops organizational changes and implementation plans. Analyzes training and organizational changes. Design training materials. Trains users in new procedures and systems.
- Communicates with clients and co-workers via oral and written communications, including presentations.
- Adheres to UT-H IT policies and procedures and industry-accepted practice.
- Works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Communicates project status and objectives. Communicates with the project team and constituencies.
- Conducts post-implementation review and documents goal attainment. Provides post-implementation support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, a business-related field, or related experience in lieu of education required
Minimum Experience:
3 years of experience in supporting systems is required. You may substitute required experience for equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement, which is 4 years.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
