• Plans, develops, schedules, and coordinates process engineering work on moderate-scope projects.
• Prepares detailed PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications.
• Completes hazard analyses, relief system calculations, and process optimization studies.
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Supports process commissioning activities, start-ups, and operator training.
• Reviews the work of junior engineers, designers, and technicians for accuracy.
• Contributes to proposal writing by developing scopes, man-hours, and assumptions.
• Plans, develops, schedules, coordinates, and conducts phases of engineering work on moderate-scope projects.
• Executes components of large projects or manages several small projects with complex features.
• Prepares detailed calculations, design packages, reports, and technical analyses.
• Assists in coordinating and reviewing the work of junior staff, CAD designers, and technicians.
• Interfaces with other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Write reports for non-technical stakeholders describing project and process goals scope and achievements using the Microsoft office suite.
• All other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s degree considered an asset).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant process engineering experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or consulting environment.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment sizing/specifications.
- Strong knowledge of process safety principles, including HAZOPs, LOPA, relief system design, and applicable safety standards.
- Experience with process simulation and modeling software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, ChemCAD or equivalent).
- Proven ability to lead or support commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of process systems.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, NFPA, CSA, ISO) and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering projects with strong coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects or project phases simultaneously, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with engineering tools and document management systems is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior engineers and technical staff.
