Middle School Teacher Pool (Grades 7�8)

Location: UME Preparatory Academy
Reports To: Campus Principal

Position Summary

UME Preparatory Academy is seeking certified middle school teachers (Grades 7�8) to join our candidate pool for current and future openings. Selected candidates will deliver high-quality instruction aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), supporting students in developing critical thinking, content mastery, and college and career readiness skills across core subject areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver daily instruction aligned to TEKS for Grades 7�8 within assigned content area(s)
• Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans
• Promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Prepare students for success on state assessments and high school readiness
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction based on data
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance in Skyward
• Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment
• Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff
• Collaborate with colleagues, instructional staff, and campus leadership
• Participate in professional development, PLCs, and school-wide initiatives
• Support the mission, vision, and values of UME Preparatory Academy

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Texas Teaching Certification in the appropriate content area (Grades 7�12 or 4�8, depending on assignment) in compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements
• Demonstrated knowledge of TEKS for middle school instruction (Grades 7�8)
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills

Preferred

• Experience teaching middle school (Grades 7�8)
• Experience with STAAR preparation strategies
• Familiarity with data-driven instruction and differentiated learning
• Experience integrating technology into instruction

Skills and Competencies

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build relationships with students and staff
• Effective classroom management and instructional planning
• Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly
• Proficiency in instructional technology and student information systems

Working Conditions

• Classroom environment with extended periods of standing, walking, and active instruction
• Ability to manage diverse student needs and behaviors
• Occasional after-school duties, meetings, and events

Compensation

Salary is based on experience and aligned with the UME Preparatory Academy pay scale.
