Key Responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional (DSP):

  • Assist with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility.
  • Implement and adhere to Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) aligning with clients’ goals.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support, and encourage social inclusion.
  • Administer medication and monitor client health as per guidelines.
  • Support clients with transportation to various appointments and community outings.
  • Maintain accurate care documentation and follow behavioral support plans as required.

Qualifications of the Direct Support Professional (DSP):

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Prior experience with developmental disabilities (strongly preferred).
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Required training certifications such as CPR and First Aid to be completed through approved providers.
