Job Description

We are currently looking for a Full Time Outreach Language Educator to join our Language Program team located at the Language Building working 8:00AM-5:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr.

Summary:

Performs Chickasaw language instruction and presentations for citizens, employees, and the general public. Possesses a deep commitment to building and serving the Chickasaw community through language. Demonstrates respect for elders, cultural protocols, and traditions, and have either strong ties to or a clear understanding of Chickasaw culture. Embodies professionalism, kindness, and cultural respect in every interaction.

Responsibilities:

* Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency
- Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner
- Determines needs and seeks positive experiences and outcomes
* Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
* Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
- Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment
- Maintains and promotes professionalism
- Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics
- Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards
* Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area
* Presents Language classes and/or department information to internal and external groups such Community Councils, Senior Sites, Youth and Family and Chickasaw Nation camps and clubs
* Teaches Chickasaw language IDP classes
* Maintains equipment and orderly workspace/service zone
* Increase language proficiency through ECU classes, Chikasha Academy or program initiatives
* Assists with language program initiatives as needed
* Prepares activity reports, as required, to be submitted to the director
* Demonstrates ingenuity in problem solving
* Maintains a positive workplace environment
* Demonstrates professional dress and presentation of self
* Follows line of support and tribal policy & procedures
* Respects and upholds cultural protocols in all outreach, teaching, and community interactions
* Represents the Division of Language Preservation with integrity, professionalism, and kindness in all interactions, recognizing that they may be the only point of contact for many individuals
* Demonstrates lateral kindness and avoids negative behavior, personal biases, or divisiveness
* Prepares and submits teaching course curriculum objectives and lesson plans to supervisor for approval in a timely manner
* Performs all other duties as assigned

* Ability to develop and implement inquiry and hands-on learning strategies
* Ability to be flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
* Must have some ability to speak the Chickasaw Language. If not fluent in the Chickasaw language, must be actively working toward proficiency in speaking
* Able to follow instructions, both written and oral
* Able to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirements

* Able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of Chickasaw Nation, departmental, divisional and all other rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines
* Prior experience with implementing tribal language programs

* Demonstrates effective oral and written communication in both English and Chickasaw
* Possesses strong understanding of curriculum development, classroom management, and instruction

* Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management
