Job Description

Victoria College Program: Creativity & Society

Position: Sessional Lecturer (1 Position - CUPE 3902, Unit 2)

CRE349H1F Special Topics in Creativity and Society: Literary Adaptation - A course exploring the aesthetic, creative, and narratological dimensions of adapting novels for film and television. How are literary texts adapted for image-based media? How do the constraints and affordances of visual storytelling transform literary source material?

Expected course time: Thursday, 1-3pm
Enrolment cap: 25
Dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026
Course Modality: In-person, Victoria College campus
Teaching Assistant: There is no TA support

The salary will be as per the CUPE agreement (e.g., September 2026 Sessional Lecturer rate is $9,997.47 including vacation pay).

 Requirements:

  • PhD, MA, MFA, or other post-graduate degree in literature
  • Extensive international publication record, including expertise in multiple genres
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Extensive industry experience, as evidenced by leadership positions in major arts organizations preferred
