Application Engineer - Liaison

The Opportunity
The Manufacturing Engineer - Liaison serves as the primary interface between Engineering and the Manufacturing floor. This role ensures engineering intent is accurately translated into safe, efficient, and repeatable production processes for mission-critical power and modular infrastructure systems.
Acting as Engineering’s representative within Operations, this individual provides real-time technical support, resolves production challenges tied to design, and ensures alignment between released engineering documentation and manufacturing execution.
What you will do?
Engineering-to-Manufacturing Interface
- Serve as the on-floor representative of Engineering, providing technical clarification and guidance to production teams.
- Interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, bills of material (BOMs), and specifications to ensure proper execution.
- Communicate manufacturing feedback to Design Engineering to improve manufacturability and reduce recurring issues.
- Support and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) while maintaining strict configuration control.
Production Technical Support
- Provide rapid response to production issues related to design, tolerances, fit-up, electrical integration, or material discrepancies.
- Lead root cause analysis for engineering-driven non-conformances and partner with Quality to implement corrective actions.
- Support disposition of non-conforming materials in alignment with engineering standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company quality requirements.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability, serviceability, and constructability of modular power systems.
- Identify risks related to assembly sequence, conduit routing, structural integration, and equipment access.
- Recommend design improvements that enhance efficiency, safety, and repeatability without compromising performance.
Documentation & Technical Governance
- Maintain alignment between released engineering documents and shop-floor work instructions.
- Support first-article builds, prototype validation, and production ramp-up activities.
- Assist in developing technical documentation to support field installation and commissioning.
Continuous Improvement
- Analyze recurring production issues and drive systemic design or process improvements.
- Partner with Operations to improve first-pass yield, reduce rework, and streamline workflows.
- Support Lean initiatives focused on standardization and process stability.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- 3–8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, product engineering, or mission-critical infrastructure environments.
Technical Skills
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, control schematics, and fabrication drawings.
- Experience with modular construction, power distribution equipment, or industrial electrical systems preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and engineering change management processes.
- Working knowledge of NEC, UL standards, or other applicable codes preferred.
