Job Description

PURPOSE OF JOB:  Provide instruction, leadership, and supervision to middle school students participating in the sports program.


 


 


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


 


 


1. Assist with practices by emphasizing the importance of teamwork, skill development, learning rules and strategies, and student-athlete improvement


 


2. Assist with engaging in academic monitoring with teachers, counselors, and other academic support staff


 


3. Help supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including in locker rooms, on buses, and at all other times. The assistant coach will be at all practices and games on time and not leave until all student-athletes have left


 


4. Help assume responsibility for the constant care of equipment and inventory being used


 


5. Follow through on all required paperwork, including rosters, physicals, insurance forms, and parent consent forms


 


6. Help provide information for transportation, facilities, officials, and game management


 


7. Ethically conduct team and self during practices and contests, always exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship


 


8. Assist in the coordination of the program


 


9. Promote student athletes’ accomplishments academically and athletically


 


10. Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications
