Job Description

Purpose:



The Principal Manufacturing Engineer position supports the manufacturing of complex close-tolerance aerospace components which are critical to flight safety on rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft. This position will process a component from its raw state (casting, forging, material stock, etc.) to its finished B/P requirements for manufacturing in the plant on one of its machining centers or at outside vendor(s) for machining or processing. The primary components are housings (e.g. cases and covers) and gears (e.g. spiral bevel, spiral, and splines). The components are from a wide-ranging number of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), thus the OEMs’ specifications, systems and processes must be understood and followed.



Responsibilities:




  1. Process complex components for raw material in the form of castings, forgings or plate/bar stock into finished blueprint requirements for dimensions and specifications (heat treating, platings, shot peening, etc.)

  2. Research, develop and insert advancing technologies into the manufacturing process.

  3. Develop and create standard work processes that other manufacturing engineers can follow.

  4. Develop repair procedures for complex flight safety dynamic components, up to $250K each, from potential scrap to acceptance.

  5. Lead projects with a focus on, on-time delivery, CNC programming, mentoring, vendor liaison and general coordination to meet project goals.

  6. Formulate and design tooling fixtures for new components and existing components (machining center change, combining of manufacturing operations or cost reductions).

  7. Quote new, modified or existing components whereby experience of manufacturing processing and programming to competitively provide costs (processing costs and times) to sales department through a bill of material and cost routing template.



Qualification:




  • US Citizen

  • Bachelors degree in an engineering field

  • Aerospace Mfg Processing Job Experience: 10+ years

  • Ability to formulate and design tooling fixtures and cutting tools

  • Prior experience with CAD/CAM: Seimens NX

  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Strong innovative and problem-solving skills

  • Project management experience

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, outlook, power point)
