We’re seeking a hands-on,
detail-driven Steam Specialist to support steam-related inventory
control and supply management at key customer sites in the Indianapolis, IN
area. This role is essential to maintaining efficient steam system operations,
ensuring critical component availability, and strengthening long-term
partnerships through reliable, high-quality service. It also provides a strong
foundation for individuals interested in transitioning into a technical outside
sales role focused on steam and thermal system solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management: Oversee and
maintain inventory of steam system components, including steam traps, control
valves, pressure regulators, condensate return equipment, and related parts at
customer storerooms.
Customer Relationship Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, supporting steam system
maintenance needs and ensuring consistent communication and service excellence.
Business Development: Monitor
customer steam system maintenance schedules and identify opportunities for
system optimization, upgrades, and expanded onsite inventory solutions.
Sales Collaboration: Partner with
outside sales and technical support teams to identify steam-related
opportunities, coordinate quotations, and follow up on projects involving steam
efficiency and reliability.
Reporting: Utilize company
platforms (e.g., Salesforce) to track steam system-related activities,
inventory usage, and sales performance.
Safety: Follow all site-specific
safety protocols, particularly those related to high-pressure steam systems and
thermal equipment.
Prospecting: Identify additional
opportunities within existing customer facilities for steam system improvements
and assist with introductory sales efforts for new accounts.
Administrative Duties: Meet
deadlines, manage documentation, and complete administrative responsibilities
tied to customer and steam system support activities.

ability to understand piping diagrams, steam system layouts, and basic
instrumentation

Valid Driver’s License required
Education & Experience
Required:
High school diploma or GED
1–2 years of related experience in
industrial, mechanical, or steam-related environments
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
or a technical field
3+ years of experience with steam
systems, thermal equipment, or process control products
Familiarity with CMMS or ERP
systems
Work Environment & Physical
Demands
Exposure to steam systems,
mechanical equipment, condensate systems, elevated temperatures, fumes, and
varying noise levels
Active role requiring standing,
walking, bending, kneeling, and occasional sitting
Visual acuity including close,
distance, color, and depth perception
Additional Information
Occasional overnight travel may be
required
Limited supervisory
responsibilities related to projects and customer coordination
