Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Casualty Senior Claims Handler in our Claims team in our Paris office.
Within our growing French Team, this role will work closely with the Head of Claims for France focusing on the building and development of our Claims department, as well as supporting for the acceleration of profitable growth strategy of Sompo in France.

What you’ll be doing:
• Independent settlement within authority limits of Casualty claims. This includes, among other things:
o Development of appropriate solution strategies and negotiation
o Commissioning, cooperation, management and control of experts, lawyers and other service providers
o Cooperation with consortium partners, insured persons, brokers and customers on a national and international level
o Independent processing of recourse
o Support in the management of the claims portfolio in accordance with internal specifications as well as controlling and international reporting
o Financial control through consistent reserve and other financial transaction discipline
• Regular exchange of information with underwriting, distribution and other stakeholders
• Supporting the Country Claims Manager in claims projects, especially in connection with the optimization of systems and processes
• Ensure adherence to best practices procedures
• Timely, accurate and customer focused claim resolution, minimizing indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense
• Sompo International's external presentation on claims
• Participation in the regional knowledge exchange and seminars in claims
• Reporting in the event of major losses,
• Managing/monitoring the performance of service providers (including lawyers, adjusters, Coverholders, brokers, and other external vendors) and co-insurers and reporting on their compliance or otherwise with terms and conditions of risks written and their overall claims handling service.
What you’ll bring:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience working in Claims position in Casualty Claims in France
• Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
• Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment and with internal/external stakeholders at all levels
• Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
• Strong expertise in international large Corporate Claims within global insurance programs
• Good network within the French broker community
• Good understanding of the insurance regulatory environment in France and its influence in business development, underwriting and claims management strategies
• Language skills: English; French.
