Job Summary

The Shift Operations Supervisor is responsible for supporting operational performance by effectively managing expenses, ensuring compliance with federal meat inspection and OSHA regulations, and enforcing company policies. This role partners closely with department leaders to meet production, quality, yield, and labor goals while maintaining high standards of safety, housekeeping, sanitation, and security.

The Supervisor will oversee production supervisors, ensure accurate recordkeeping, address operational challenges with sound problem‑solving and follow‑up, and support manpower planning for assigned shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in controlling operational expenses and improving efficiencies.

  • Ensure full compliance with USDA, OSHA, HACCP, and company standards.

  • Interpret and enforce company policies consistently across the team.

  • Support manpower planning and make recommendations to meet production needs.

  • Prepare, maintain, and audit required reports and records for accuracy.

  • Collaborate with department heads to achieve production quality, yield, and performance goals.

  • Maintain strong labor standards, safety practices, and product quality.

  • Ensure excellence in housekeeping, sanitation, safety, and facility security.

  • Supervise production supervisors and oversee all assigned shift operations.

  • Effectively address issues, solve problems, and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience

  • 3–5 years of industry-related experience (meat processing experience preferred)

  • 1–3 years of supervisory experience

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, USDA, and HACCP regulations

Computer Skills

  • Basic to intermediate proficiency with standard computer applications

Communication Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly with individuals at all levels

Special Skills

  • Knowledge of OSHA, USDA, HACCP, safety, sanitation, quality, yields, cost control, and efficiencies

  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage subordinate supervisors who oversee plant team members

  • Interview, hire, train, and develop employees

  • Assign and direct daily work activities

  • Evaluate performance and provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action as needed

  • Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues

  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and applicable laws

Work Schedule

  • Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

  • Flexibility required based on production needs, including occasional weekend work
