Job Description

Gifford Farm Education Center, Educational Service Unit #3 is seeking Outdoor Educators to provide Educational Programs to students in the Omaha Metro area at Gifford Farm Education Center in Bellevue. Interested candidates need to be team-focused, caring individuals who choose to impact student learning in an outdoor environment, and to assist in the educational process. We offer a flexible schedule within school hours. Experience interacting with PreK-2nd grade is preferred, but not required.

Essential Requirements:  



  1. No history of child abuse or negligence.

  2. High School graduate, equivalent, or in progress.

  3. The position of Gifford Farm Outdoor Educator requires a person who enjoys working with children, animals, and working outside a great deal of the time.  The position requires a person with a friendly nature and good customer service skills.

  4. Regular and dependable in-person attendance is required.

  5. Interest in one or more of these areas is preferred agriculture, nature, history, science or team building.


Essential Responsibilities: 



  1. Complete training provided by Gifford Farm Staff for each program taught.

  2. Provide information to students and all visitors based on the curriculum set in place by Gifford Farm Training, curriculum, and Standard Operating Guides of Gifford Farm Education Center.

  3. Attend annual training and review curriculum, Standard Operating Guides, and ESU #3 handbook annually.

  4. Follow the direction of the Executive Director of Programs Services/Gifford Farm Coordinator and Program Team Leaders in all matters related to Gifford Farm and Gifford Farm programs.

  5. Present programs to all visitors in a positive, professional and friendly manner.

  6. Maintain working knowledge of program materials presented.

  7. Possess a working knowledge and comply with Gifford Farm and ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies, Safety Policies and Procedures, and ESU3 Employee Handbook.

  8. Assist in preparation and set up of programs.

  9. Assist in clean up, closing of programs, and storage of program supplies.

  10. Arrive and prepare for programs according to scheduled and posted start times.

  11. Willingness to maintain flexibility in program scheduling and timing.

  12. Maintain a positive and friendly working relationship with other staff members.

  13. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Programs Services Gifford Farm Coordinator.  Example:  general maintenance /cleaning and upkeep of the property.  Employees may also help with animal chores that might consist of being in close proximity to farm animals.
