Position Summary
The LOTO Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program to ensure the safe control of hazardous energy during construction, commissioning, maintenance, and operational activities. This role plays a critical function in protecting personnel, equipment, and facility operations—particularly in complex environments such as data centers, mission critical facilities, and advanced manufacturing plants.
The LOTO Coordinator ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and client-specific energy control procedures. This is a safety sensitive position.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the site-specific Lockout/Tagout program.
- Create and review energy control procedures (ECPs) for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ensure all hazardous energy sources are properly identified, documented, and controlled.
- Coordinate and supervise LOTO activities for construction, commissioning, maintenance, and start-up operations.
- Verify proper application and removal of locks and tags.
- Maintain real-time LOTO logs and system status boards.
- Conduct routine audits to ensure compliance with established procedures.
- Train and certify authorized and affected employees in LOTO procedures.
- Conduct refresher training and toolbox talks as needed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 and applicable client safety standards.
- Support internal and external safety audits.
- Serve as the central point of contact for all LOTO-related activities onsite.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, commissioning teams, subcontractors, and facility operators.
- Facilitate daily coordination meetings to review active LOTO scopes and impacts.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all lockouts, tags, and system isolations.
- Prepare reports for leadership regarding LOTO compliance and safety performance.
- Assist in incident investigations involving hazardous energy control.
- Performs other duties as needed to support projects, operations, and the department.
