About this team 
The Global Distribution and Logistics Technology org is responsible for supporting Lululemon’s distribution centers, stores across NA and 3PLs across the globe. This is a highly motivated org committed to unlocking business potential with our Global Fulfillment and broader Supply Chain partners. The org is currently leading a multi-year transformation initiative to support company’s future network strategy and growth. We are looking for a talented staff engineer to support technology delivery initiatives within GDT. In this role you will lead the Supply Chain Warehouse Management engineering solutions, working with vendor partners, business partners, Security, Infrastructure, Product and the Engineering teams.  
 
Core responsibilities 
As a Staff Application Engineer, you will design and deliver enterprise application solutions and frameworks spanning multiple teams and business units, establishing application engineering standards including configuration patterns, proprietary development practices, and governance frameworks adopted across the organization while ensuring alignment with business objectives and application architecture standards. You will consult on application architecture decisions providing technical expertise and implementation perspectives to architects, recommend application technologies and platform capabilities based on evaluation for architect review, balance hands-on application engineering in critical areas with advisory responsibilities across teams, and ensure application solutions deliver measurable business value through process automation and user adoption. You will mentor application engineers at all levels including developing emerging technical leaders, identify and resolve critical application engineering challenges spanning multiple systems, and drive application initiatives including platform upgrades and optimization efforts that improve system capability and organizational effectiveness.
 
Select responsibilities include:
 
Design and implement enterprise application solutions and frameworks spanning multiple teams and business units, establishing configuration patterns and practices that scale across the organization
Drive complex, multi-team initiatives with minimal supervision, making key technical decisions independently while navigating ambiguity and competing priorities
Write exemplary configurations and proprietary application code in critical areas demonstrating best-in-class application engineering practices when situations require deep platform expertise
Consult with principal architects on application architecture decisions providing technical expertise on implementation feasibility, scalability considerations, and operational implications
Recommend application technologies, platform capabilities, and solutions to architects based on technical evaluation, team capabilities, and implementation requirements
Establish application engineering and configuration standards adopted across the organization including validation strategies, deployment workflows, and quality practices
Lead technical design reviews across the organization providing expert guidance on implementation approaches, scalability, and maintainability
Mentor application engineers at all levels including developing senior engineers and emerging application engineering leaders
Identify and resolve critical application engineering challenges that span multiple systems and teams
Partner with business and engineering leadership on application implementation strategy, roadmap planning, and alignment with business priorities
Lead incident response for critical system issues providing technical leadership and coordinating resolution across teams

 
Qualifications 
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
9-12 years of experience defining application strategy, establishing integration and configuration standards, and driving organization-wide application decisions, or equivalent
5+ years of experience in architecting retail/supply chain applications 
Experience with Manhattan warehouse management systems (or equivalent) and cloud-based platforms, preferred
Expertise in developing micro-service and service-based architecture in global environments
Proven experience designing domain-wide configuration frameworks and standards adopted across multiple teams
Track record of defining complex coding and scripting standards used company-wide for application platforms; experience establishing platform extension strategies balancing low-code versus scripting approaches
Experience establishing integration standards and patterns for a domain leveraging platform-native connectors and integration tools; proven ability to define data management frameworks and mapping strategies adopted across the organization
Demonstrated ability to define configuration lifecycle and release management standards for a domain; experience establishing release governance frameworks aligned with vendor update cycles and organizational change management
Proven track record of building organizational application engineering capability through mentoring engineers at all levels across a domains

Compensation and benefits package  
lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $177,500 - $233,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
