Activities Host Job Description

Hours: Part Time/ Seasonal (20+ hours per week)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

 

The Activities Host is a high-energy, guest-focused role designed to enhance the member experience during peak pool season. Inspired by a “cruise ship” style atmosphere, this position brings fun, engagement, and entertainment to the pool deck through interactive games, contests, and social activities for residents of all ages. This role plays a key part in creating a vibrant, welcoming environment that encourages community connection and keeps members coming back for a lively and memorable experience.

 

RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  • Have the ability to plan, organize, and lead engaging poolside activities for children, teens, and adults
  • Host interactive contests such as poolside competitions, relay races, and other games of skill
  • Create a fun, inclusive, and energetic atmosphere on the pool deck
  • Actively engage with residents and guests to encourage participation
  • Make announcements and serve as an enthusiastic “host” for activities and events
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of activity materials and equipment
  • Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with facility rules
  • Collaborate with Lifestyle staff on programming ideas and special events
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive, approachable presence

 

REQUIRED EXPEREINCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • High School Diploma or some college degree
  • Active/Valid Drivers License
  • Outgoing, energetic personality with strong communication skills
  • Experience in recreation, hospitality, camp counseling, or event hosting preferred
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups and leading activities
  • Ability to engage both children and adults in a fun and professional manner
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends during peak season
  • CPR/AED certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIROMENT:

 

  • Primarily outdoor position based at community pool and recreational areas
  • Requires the ability to work in warm weather conditions, including sun exposure, heat, and humidity
  • High-energy, fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with residents, guests, and children of all ages
  • Involves standing, walking, and remaining active for extended periods of time
  • Requires flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal hours
  • Frequent setup and breakdown of activity equipment and materials
  • Requires the ability to speak clearly and confidently in group settings, including making announcements
  • Team-oriented environment with collaboration alongside Lifestyle and community staff
