Reports to:  National Resource Center Operations Manager

Position type:  Onsite – Full Time

Position Overview

To maintain a well-functioning, organized, safe, and clean building and work space for P2C staff and tenants. The Facilities Operations Lead is the "Steward of the Environment" for our 26,000 sq ft National Resource Centre. You will oversee the physical "engine" of our ministry—from HVAC and safety systems to warehouse logistics—ensuring our staff and 500+ national team members have a professional and hospitable environment to fulfill their mission.

About the Role

To facilitate the needs of P2C staff and tenants as it pertains to building maintenance, space planning, equipment, and logistics. You will perform this role with excellence and a servant’s heart, ensuring the "back of house" operates seamlessly so that ministry can thrive.

1. Building Maintenance & Operations

  • Systems Oversight: Perform daily inspections and repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, elevators, and fire safety systems.
  • Environment Control: Maintain and configure thermostats for heating/cooling and perform battery changes to ensure a comfortable work environment.
  • Proactive Upkeep: Coordinate waste/recycling collection, oversee painting and floor maintenance, and perform general "handyman" troubleshooting.
  • Space Coordination: Execute the setup and cleanup for internal and external events in conference and meeting rooms.
  • Security: Manage access card administration, key management, and serve as the primary contact for building alarm calls (24/7).
  • Custodial Oversight: Monitor the daily cleanliness of the facility; perform light "touch-up" cleaning in high-traffic areas (kitchens, washrooms, meeting rooms) and manage the relationship/performance of the external janitorial service provider.

2. Warehouse & Logistics

  • Warehouse Authority: Ensure a clean and safe warehouse environment; manage storage volumes, shipping/receiving, and physical inventory organization.
  • Equipment: Perform routine maintenance on forklifts and provide operational support to P2C staff.
  • Postal Lead: Collect and process outgoing mail (Pitney Bowes) and parcels (Freightcom); manage accounts for P2C and Global Aid Network.
  • Mailroom Management: Ensure the mailroom is organized and tidy; monitor shipment statuses and prepare monthly reports for Finance.

3. Safety & Stewardship

  • Safety Committee: Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), managing inspections and documentation to ensure a hazard-free workplace.
  • First Aid: Serve as a primary First Aid attendant and ensure all stations are stocked and compliant.
  • Emergency Prep: Coordinate the annual ShakeOut BC earthquake drill and regular fire drills.

4. Ministry Participation

  • Active participation in weekly Chapel services and other ministry specific prayer / bible study times.
  • Attendance and participation in the semi-annual Worldwide Day of Prayer.
  • Attendance and participation in All Staff Forums.
  • Special projects as assigned by the NRC Operations Manager.

Education and Experience

  • High School Education completed
  • Technical Skill: Basic maintenance skills and capacity to use tools to solve building issues.
  • Physicality: Ability to work in different environments (inside/outside) and perform heavy lifting (up to 50lbs).
  • Certifications: Must maintain Forklift and First Aid certifications (courses paid for by P2C).
  • Experience: 3 yrs or more property / building maintenance experience
