Job Description

 

The Summer Camp Coordinator for The Plateau Club is responsible and accountable for leading the camp counselor team in providing a safe and enjoyable environment while supervising the children who enroll in summer camp. The Camp Coordinator is also responsible for but not limited to: creating weekly rosters of registered campers, communicating with parents any updates to the program, maintaining a professional attitude with children, parents and team members, act swiftly in any emergency situation and plan/delegate the planning of activities for summer campers throughout the summer. Coordinator will lead and assign counselors to lead activities and be expected to go swimming, play games and conduct behavior management. This is a seasonal, part-time position from late June through late August.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create a weekly roster based on registered campers.
  • Schedule and plan weekly activities and assignments for counselors with the supervision of the Recreation Center Manager
  • Greet campers and parents at check in/out, ensure proper paperwork and payment has been taken care of on first day of camp
  • Ensure all COVID-19 procedures are adhered to including but not limited to: wellness checks, mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing procedures.
  • Maintain records of campers attending, their swimming abilities and any pertinent medical or behavioral information.
  • Communicate to registered campers and their families (through emails/phone calls) any updates to the program, what’s needed for a successful day of camp and weekly reminder communications about what’s upcoming.
  • Ensure the campers are accounted for by doing headcounts/count offs throughout the day using a camp roster.
  • Prepare activities that are safe, fun, and enriching for 6-11 year old campers.
  • Provide leadership, direction and supervision of games and activities, for campers and the Camp Counselors.
  • Help maintain a clean camp room.
  • Supervise campers throughout each day during all activities, meal/snack times, and IN THE POOL during swimming.
  • Provide quality customer service in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Provide accurate information about programs and activities to members.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with 6–11-year-old children in a camp, classroom or recreational capacity.
  • Experience being a leader for groups of young children and navigating behavior management situations among children.
  • Experience working as a team leader or in a supervisor capacity.
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Ability to understand the needs of young people and interest in supporting their growth and basic needs.
  • Ability to work from June 19 through August 30, 2021
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification OR willingness to obtain (training available for the right candidate)

COMPENSATION DETAILS: 

  • Offered rate of pay range: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
  • Eligible for overtime

Seasonal team members are hired for the summer season, and work fluctuating amounts of hours per week, including occasional overtime. Hours are not guaranteed, and hours worked during the summer (busy season) are not an indication of hours available year-round.

Seasonal employment is temporary work; therefore, terminated at the end of the busy season. Team Members in good standing are encouraged to return the following year or apply for a year-round position if available.
