The Role

AIIR has an exciting and important opportunity for the right person to join our Intelligent HVAC Systems engineering and product development team to design and commercialize our own unique, purpose-built HVAC systems as an Electronics Engineer.  This is a hands-on and highly visible opportunity in a rapidly growing and evolving company with lots of room to grow!  We are seeking a person with at least 2 years demonstrated experience with electronic hardware design and testing complex electronic systems such as embedded devices and power electronics systems.

Essential Job Functions
  • Support design and development of electronic control hardware for HVAC systems
  • Prepare schematics, layout of electronic circuit boards, and develop and manage parts library to support new product development and design changes to existing products
  • Review component specifications and support selection of appropriate hardware components.
  • Identify and qualify alternative components for EOL/NRND as well as for cost reduction.
  • Modify electronic circuit boards including soldering components on or off as necessary to evaluate functionality and support prototype board development
  • Support product sustaining engineering activities, performing root cause analysis, and revising designs
  • Support the building of prototypes, modify, test, and troubleshooting as needed the electronic hardware and associated HVAC system, components, and instruments.
  • Utilize typical electrical test equipment to analyze as well as troubleshoot board and system level electrical issues
  • Ensure all designs, tests, and development activities are well documented
  • Develop procedures and manuals as necessary
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or Electronics Engineering required
  • 2 years of demonstrable relevant experience
  • Experience with preparation schematics, printed circuit board design and layout, and components selection
  • Demonstrated experience in using electronic CAD tools preferably KiCad and OrCAD/Cadence
  • Hands-on experience working in a lab environment with PCB repair/modifications, troubleshooting, and testing of electronic components and systems with embedded electronics
  • Knowledge and ability to use basic EE tools such as Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal Generators etc.
  • Good soldering capability and ability to modify PCBs as necessary
  • Good understanding of technologies such as BLE, Wi-Fi, power management, sensor control, USB, UART, I2C, and various bus communication technologies desired
