Job Description

Job Title: Software Engineer III

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled macOS Engineer (Level 4) with deep expertise in Jamf and enterprise mobile device management using Microsoft Intune. This role is responsible for the architecture, engineering, automation, security, and lifecycle management of macOS endpoints and mobile devices across the organization.

As a senior-level individual contributor, you will drive platform strategy, improve automation and compliance, and serve as the escalation point for complex endpoint issues. You will partner closely with Security, Infrastructure, and Service Desk teams to deliver a secure, scalable, and high-performing Apple ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

macOS Platform Engineering

  • Design and implement scalable configurations using Jamf Cloud.
  • Deploy, and maintain enterprise macOS environments.
  • Develop and maintain macOS configuration profiles, policies, and compliance baselines.
  • Engineer secure provisioning workflows including Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) and zero-touch deployments.
  • Create automation using scripting (Bash, Zsh, Python) to improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage OS upgrades, patching strategies, and application lifecycle management.

Jamf Administration & Architecture

  • Administer Jamf infrastructure configuration and optimization.
  • Implement and maintain patch management frameworks within Jamf.
  • Build and manage smart groups, extension attributes, and advanced reporting.
  • Support Jamf Protect and security hardening initiatives.
  • Support Jamf Connect

 

 

Mobile Device Management (Intune)

  • Engineer and maintain mobile device management (MDM) using Microsoft Intune.
  • Configure and manage compliance policies, conditional access, and security baselines.
  • Support iOS/iPadOS enrollment, configuration, and lifecycle management.
  • Implement app deployment and mobile application management (MAM) policies.
  • Collaborate with Security teams on endpoint compliance and risk mitigation.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement CIS benchmarks and enterprise security standards for macOS.
  • Monitor device health, compliance posture, and remediation workflows.
  • Support audits and provide reporting for regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Security Operations for endpoint threat response.

Operational Leadership

  • Serve as Tier 3/4 escalation point for complex endpoint issues.
  • Document engineering standards, platform architecture, and procedures.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support staff.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and automation efforts.
  • Participate in roadmap planning and technology evaluation.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise macOS environments.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Jamf Pro/Cloud administration and engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience managing mobile devices with Microsoft Intune.
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Zsh, Python).
  • Experience with Apple Business Manager and Automated Device Enrollment.
  • Knowledge of macOS security frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Experience integrating MDM with identity providers (Azure AD / Entra ID).
  • Deep understanding of device lifecycle management.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Jamf 300 or 400 certification.
  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager / Intune certifications.
  • Experience with Jamf Protect.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust security models.
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise (5,000+ devices).
  • Experience with CI/CD or automation pipelines for endpoint management.
  • Knowledge of Windows device management (co-management environments).
  • Knowledge of Nexthink and Automox a plus.
