    Leave of Absence Position - May 26, 2026 - June 30, 2026

    Sparta Middle School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Emotional Regulation Impairment (ERI) Teacher.  The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with identified emotional regulation needs, helping them develop coping strategies, social skills, and academic success in a supportive and structured environment. This position involves working collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure comprehensive student development.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Specialized Instruction: Plan, develop, and deliver individualized and group instruction based on students' IEPs, focusing on social-emotional learning, behavioral regulation, and academic skills.
    • IEP Management: Participate in the development and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring goals are measurable, attainable, and aligned with student needs.
    • Behavioral Support: Implement evidence-based positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors. Teach students self-monitoring and self-management techniques.
    • Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with general education teachers, administrators, counselors, and outside service providers to integrate ERI strategies across all school settings.
    • Assessment and Data Collection: Conduct formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress toward IEP goals. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student performance and behavioral data.
    • Crisis Intervention: Respond appropriately to student crises, utilizing training in de-escalation and safety protocols.
    • Parent Communication: Maintain open and consistent communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavioral needs, and strategies for home support.

    Qualifications

    • Certification: 

    Valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification
    Valid New Jersey instructional certificate (CE, CEAS, or Standard)

    Salary and offered benefits as per BA Step 1 of the attached SEA Contract
