Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate K-12 Arts Certificated Teacher to join our district-wide educational team. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is committed to fostering creativity and artistic expression among students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in visual and performing arts, and the ability to engage students in a variety of artistic disciplines. Non - Continuing 26/27 school year only
The District
Reardan-Edwall School District encompasses a large geographic area including the towns of Reardan and
Edwall. The District includes one elementary school and one secondary school. Our school district has a
deep focus on our core values, which serve as a guide for our work together.

General Summary
The 1.0 FTE K-12 Arts Certificated Teacher is a non-continuing position for the 2026/2027 school
year at the Reardan-Edwall School District. The role involves designing and implementing
engaging music (TK-12) and elementary art instruction while supporting a positive district climate.
Qualifications
● Close affiliation with and commitment to Reardan-Edwall School District’s Mission, Vision
and Values.
● Successful passing of the fingerprint process, safe schools training and
background check.
● Currently have or will have by the start date a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate
with a music related endorsement preferred. Other degrees and certifications may be
considered.
● Knowledge of subject areas appropriate to assignment; effective behavior
management techniques; effective instructional techniques; rules and procedures for
student safety.
● Makes learning visible through effective student engagement. Demonstrate ability to
design and implement effective, relevant, and engaging music/art instruction at
TK-12 levels.
● Ability to interact with students in a positive and confident manner; be fair and consistent;
adapt to change and remain flexible; organize activities; manage student behavior; provide
instruction and demonstrate techniques.
● Use good judgment to maintain a safe learning environment.
● Use necessary musical instruments, equipment, computers, or software.
● Establish and maintain effective, positive working relationships with students, parents or
guardians, staff and administrators.
● Ability to gain respect and confidence of students and community through the modeling of
appropriate behavior, methods and attire.
● Works closely with our current Music/Band teacher. Ability to plan and facilitate student
music performances for parents and community.
● Utilizes formative and summative assessments to measure the accomplishments of
students on a regular basis and maintains such records as required by the District.
● Prepares report cards and progress reports.

● Be enthusiastic, open minded and flexible in meeting the needs of students, the school, the
district and the community.
● Maintains and submits student records and progress in a timely manner, and willingness to
communicate student progress with parents/guardians/caretakers.
● Maintain professionalism by being a strong role model for students, by actively participating
in professional development activities and demonstrating a commitment to support grade
level and school wide goals and practices.
● Plans a program of study in music education that meets the individual needs, interests, and
abilities of students and meets the requirements of district goals & the Washington State
Music Learning Standards.
● Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
● Willingness to become a key member of a highly functioning PLC team.
● Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal or superintendent.
Education
● Bachelor’s Degree (minimum).
Job Duties
● Teach academics, social skills, and/or behavior skills to students.
● Participate as requested as a member of Student Assistance Teams, Multidisciplinary
Teams and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
● Work cooperatively and closely with administrators, instructional staff members,
para-educators, other school personnel and parents.
● Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of assessment
techniques/instruments.
● Devise instructional procedures that actively engage all learners.
● Prepare reports and other documentation as necessary in a timely manner.
● Implement districts’ and building’s philosophies and goals.
● Implement adopted curricular programs and provide for individual learning needs of the
students.
● Assist on the evaluation of curricular programs and the selection and evaluation of
instructional equipment and materials.
● Provide academic guidance and counseling for students under their direction.
● Promote the district's educational goals through parent conferences and related
activities.
● Maintain appropriate student records.
● Maintain and promote personal professional growth through appropriate class work,
workshops, reading of professional materials, etc.
● Be responsible for constructive classroom management and environment.
● Periodically review and act in accordance with building and district policy.
● Work cooperatively with students, classroom teachers, parent(s) and community.
● Model appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential
information, consistent with the district ethical guidelines.
● Attend designated department meetings and trainings.
● Provide flexible inclusion schedules for individual students as appropriate.
● Collect student data using a variety of data collection forms for purposes of determining
appropriate instruction.
● Commitment to high expectations and growth for all students.
● Create a safe and positive classroom environment using strong management skills.
● Keeps calm and clear-headed under pressure.
● Keep all interactions with students positive, professional and caring.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Physical Demands
● Exposed to a visual display terminal for prolonged periods; dexterity and precision required in the
operation of a computer; potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students.
● Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds as well as demonstrated physical agility (i.e., bending,
getting up and down from the floor, etc.).
Salary:
26/27 Certificated Salary Schedule Range $54,207 - $102,906 (placement based on experience and
education)
Terms of Employment:
● Position reports to the Administrative Team.
