We are seeking an Engineering Associate / Certification to support testing and certification projects for Built Environment and Fire Safety products across Brazil and Latin America. This role operates in a hybrid model (3 days per week onsite in our São Paulo office).
The professional will work closely with our local engineer and global teams to evaluate fire protection systems, fire doors, alarms, PPE, and other safety-related products, ensuring compliance with UL standards and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Determine project scope, timelines, sample needs, and testing requirements based on client input and product construction.
- Perform and witness safety testing (fire, mechanical, electrical) at laboratories or client sites across LATAM; travel required after training.
- Communicate with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures, negotiate timelines, and provide project status updates.
- Review product samples, assess compliance with UL requirements, document results, and prepare certification reports.
- Coordinate laboratory work, prepare instructions for technicians, and manage project documentation and administrative steps.
- Develop or support special test methods, test programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Some university education in a related engineering discipline plus six years of directly related experience, or candidates currently completing an engineering degree (Engineering Associate pathway).
- Construction experience required.
- Fire Safety Engineering – Testing and Certification experience (understanding of fire protection systems, fire behavior, or fire-related testing methods).
- Strong communication skills; ability to work with customers and technical teams.
- English fluency strongly preferred due to global interactions.
- Ability and willingness to travel across Latin America for onsite testing and inspections.
