We are currently seeking a Site Developer to join our team at our Montclair, CA Campus. In this position you will be responsible for building, expanding, and sustaining a high-quality network of clinical externship sites and employer partners for our programs. This role is a business development and relationship management position focused on generating new externship opportunities, strengthening employer partnerships, and supporting the institution’s extern-to-hire pipeline. The Site Developer works to ensure that externship capacity aligns with student demand and that externship sites consistently convert into employment opportunities.

This position requires extensive fieldwork, employer outreach, and community engagement across California healthcare environments.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Externship Site Development 

  • Identify, prospect, and secure new externship sites including hospitals, clinics, laboratories, blood banks, EMS agencies, urgent care centers, and other healthcare providers. 

  • Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of active externship opportunities to meet and exceed student placement demand. 

  • Execute outreach strategies including: 

    • Cold calling and in-person visits 

    • Networking with healthcare administrators and hiring managers 

    • Participation in community and workforce events 

  • Partner with the Director to align site development with externship capacity planning and enrollment growth. 

  • Ensure all new externship sites meet California regulatory, safety, and program-specific requirements prior to student placement. 

Employer Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with healthcare employers to support both externship placement and hiring pipelines. 

  • Serve as a primary liaison between the institution and employer partners. 

  • Conduct regular site visits to: 

    • Maintain relationships 

    • Evaluate site quality 

    • Identify hiring needs and opportunities 

  • Promote extern-to-hire pathways, encouraging employers to hire students upon externship completion. 

  • Ensure high levels of employer satisfaction, engagement, and retention. 

Externship Pipeline & Workforce Alignment

  • Collaborate with the Externship Assistant to: 

    • Align student readiness with site availability 

    • Ensure appropriate matching of students to externship sites 

  • Provide real-time feedback to campus teams regarding: 

    • Employer expectations 

    • Skill gaps 

    • Hiring trends 

  • Support achievement of key performance targets: 

    • Externship placement rates 

    • Extern-to-hire conversion rates 

    • Employer retention and expansion 

Compliance & Documentation

  • Assist in securing and maintaining required documentation for externship sites, including: 

    • Affiliation agreements 

    • Site approvals and evaluations 

  • Ensure all employer partnerships comply with: 

    • California Labor Laws and externship guidelines 

    • HIPAA, OSHA, and workplace safety standards 

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of employer interactions, site development activities, and partnership status. 

Collaboration & Internal Communication

  • Work closely with campus teams

  • Participate in team meetings to review: 

    • Site development progress 

    • Student placement needs 

    • Employer feedback 

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of externship and placement strategies. 

Community Engagement & Brand Representation

  • Represent the institution in the community as a professional ambassador. 

  • Attend and participate in: 

    • Job fairs 

    • Healthcare networking events 

    • Industry association meetings 

  • Promote the school’s programs and students to potential employer partners.
