Description

Alliance Water Resources is a growing water and wastewater contract operations company looking for a full time Accountant at our headquarters office in Columbia, MO.

 

The accountant role works under the general supervision of the Accounting Manager. The accountant will perform a variety of administrative and supervisory functions. This position is expected to perform work with minimum supervision, exercising sound judgment and referring unusual problems to the accounting manager.

 

Schedule: 7:30am-4:30pm

 

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and issues company’s monthly financial statements. Also includes computing various monthly accruals, preparing/processing monthly journal entries and applying analytical review methods to various general ledger accounts.
  • Prepares and issues client monthly financial statements from information provided by employees and/or clients. This includes computing monthly accruals, data entry of cash receipts/disbursements and preparing/processing all journal entries. Also requires preparing and issuing special management reports using spreadsheet software. Prepares and issues annual IRS Form 1099’s for applicable clients.
  • Maintains the company’s fixed asset system and records asset additions and deletions on the depreciation schedule. Also prepares monthly bank reconciliations on the company’s corporate bank accounts.
  • Assists in scheduling annual financial statement audits for the company and applicable clients as required. Prepares various audit schedules/documents and answers inquiries by auditors.
  • Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual federal and state payroll tax returns.
  • Assists with preparation of and issuing W-2s in a timely manner to board members.
  • Performs other related duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities-Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration with an emphasis in accounting, or related discipline, and two to five years of accounting experience. 
  • Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment including significant 10 key and typing ability. 
  • Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and basic mathematics. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. 
  • Ability to maintain moderately complex records and ensures confidentiality. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. 
  • Knowledge of appropriate business software programs, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. 
  • Possess or the ability to possess a valid Missouri driver's license.
