Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
Provide direct patient care under the guidelines of the Vocational Nurse Practice Act. Maintain a professional, positive and caring attitude at all times.


Responsibilities:
•Obtain complete and accurate vital signs and assist patients to exam rooms.
•Obtain specimens, such as urine, as needed.
•Obtain and document all pertinent information in patient charts utilizing EMR system.
•Anticipate, assist and perform procedures ordered by provider.
•Maintain timely patient flow and room availability. Maintain patient safety and confidentiality.
•Reinforce patient education and participate in patient teaching.
•Stock and maintain exam rooms, nursing stations and individual workstations
•Participate in unit duties, such as cleaning and sterilizing instruments and ordering supplies.
•Maintain and monitor all equipment used for patient care and testing. Report any discrepancy to supervisor.
•Assist with training and orientation of new personnel.
•Actively participate in nursing/lab QA by identifying problems, providing solutions and evaluating outcomes.
•Ensure appropriate handling and accurate documentation of all medications ordered by provider.
•Be knowledgeable of referral system, ensuring accurate and timely follow-through with all referrals generated.
•Be competent with all aspects of patient care provided in each department, thus able to float to all departments.
•Supervise patient care performed by Medical Assistant(s).
•Assume responsibility for narcotic medications as assigned.
•Maintain crash cart, emergency drugs and equipment as assigned.
•Responsible for IV therapy and blood withdrawal within scope of practice.
•Assess fee tickets for accuracy and completeness.
•Perform arterial blood withdrawal.
•Perform lab QC and proficiency testing, as assigned, when lab personnel is not available.
•Perform all laboratory testing done on site when lab personnel is not available.
•Ensure that all test results including EKG and lab results are reviewed and initialed by physician as soon as completed.
•Use HVVMG computers as they pertain to job.
•Initiate and appropriately participate in a Code White, Code Blue and Code Red within the guidelines of scope of practice
•Exercise universal precautions in all patient care.
•Perform other duties as assigned

 

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $31.00 and $36.00/hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
