Job Description:

The 50 Plus Fitness Instructor leads 45–50 minute group fitness classes for adults age 50+. Classes may be offered during daytime or evening hours depending on program schedules and instructor availability. Class formats may vary based on the instructor’s qualifications, certifications, and experience (e.g., low-impact fitness, strength and balance, chair fitness, mobility, flexibility, etc.).

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead safe, engaging 45 – 50 minute fitness classes for adults age 50+.

  • Prepare and follow simple lesson plans appropriate for varying fitness levels.

  • Modify exercises for participants with arthritis, mobility limitations, or other physical considerations.

  • Create a fun, welcoming environment and provide excellent customer service.

  • Arrive on time, set up equipment, and start/end classes as scheduled.

  • Track class attendance and submit required paperwork on time.

  • Communicate program updates to participants.

  • Respond to emergencies and administer first aid if needed.

  • Demonstrate initiative and professionalism while working independently.

  • Opportunities may be available to substitute or cover additional 50 Plus fitness classes.



Job Requirements:
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum age: 21 years and older.
  • Must have current CPR and Group Exercise Certification.
  • Criminal History Background Check required.
  • Monday - Friday, daytime and/or evening preferred.

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department.
