About Empowered Services

Empowered Services is an Oregon-based provider of Direct Support Professional (DSP) services, caregiving, and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

We specialize in 1:1, person-centered care, helping individuals build independence, develop life skills, and stay connected to their communities.


Position Overview

We are hiring a Part-Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to provide 1:1 in-home and community-based support for a youth in the Beaverton, OR area.


This role is a strong fit for candidates with experience in:

  • Behavioral support / Behavioral health
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Childcare / youth mentorship
  • Caregiving, DSP, or CNA roles


Schedule

  • Saturday & Sunday: Full-day shifts (exact hours TBD)
    (Consistent weekend schedule)


Who You’ll Be Supporting

You will be supporting a youth who:

  • Enjoys science experiments, cooking, sports, arcades, and outdoor walks
  • Is very intelligent, curious, and creative
  • Can experience emotional ups and downs and needs time to process
  • Takes time to build trust and is selective about who he works with
  • Has experienced past trauma and benefits from patient, consistent support
  • May disengage from providers quickly if the relationship is not a good fit
  • Has a history of elopement behaviors when dysregulated (safety awareness required)


He thrives with a provider who is:
patient, calm, consistent, emotionally attuned, and not easily discouraged


What You’ll Do

  • Provide direct care and ADL support as needed
  • Support community outings (arcades, walks, recreational activities)
  • Engage in hands-on activities (science kits, cooking, creative projects)
  • Use behavioral support strategies and trauma-informed approaches
  • Build a consistent, trusting relationship over time
  • Support emotional regulation and safe decision-making
  • Maintain awareness of safety concerns, including elopement behaviors
  • Follow structured routines while allowing flexibility when needed
  • Complete documentation and communication with the care team


Compensation & Benefits

  • $23–$25 per hour (DOE: experience, education, certifications)
  • Paid training
  • Flexible schedule based upon the customer 

Full-time employees (30+ hours/week) may be eligible for:

Qualifications: 

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Current auto insurance (meeting state requirements)
  • Ability to pass a background check (not all records are disqualifying)
  • Experience with behavioral support and/or trauma-informed care

Preferred:

  • Experience as a DSP, caregiver, behavioral technician, CNA, or childcare provider
  • Experience supporting individuals with I/DD, autism, or mental health needs
  • Experience with de-escalation and emotional regulation support
  • CPR / First Aid certification
