JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Under the direction of the Automation Manager, the Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and managing all aspects of our automation and electrical control systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary. 

•    Comply with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures and housekeeping standards.

•    Design and layout control cabinets complete with load sizing.

•    Create and develop programs for industrial equipment using RS Logix controller programming Languages. Program, troubleshoot and debug Rockwell / Siemens PLCs, Networking and HMI and robots. Design and programming of PLC's and variable frequency drives.

•    Programming and commissioning servo controllers and closed loop electro-hydraulic positioners. Design control systems for mechanical and hydraulic manufacturing equipment and also design and implement Compressor and Pumps Control System.

•    Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical problems.

•    Assist in tool and fixture design.

•    Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.

•    Ensure installation and commissioning meet design standards.

•    Assists in identifying the technologies to be used for engineering projects.

•    Industrial Equipment and Automation Controls procurement and integration.

•    Develop and maintain electrical systems to ensure a safe working environment.

•    Improve quality and manufacturing process performance.

•    Assist Maintenance with troubleshooting equipment and controls related issues.

•    Develop standards, procedures, manuals, and other documentation for projects.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 
Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from a four-year college/university and 5+ years of controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with material flow and continuous improvement practices and Fanuc and Kuka industrial robots. 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 
Fluent in the following: Fanuc Teach Pendant & Karel Programming languages, Fanuc Visloc & Onboard Vision. Familiar and comfortable working with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD 2D for creating electrical schematics. Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include various precision measuring devices and lifting devices.  Requires a broad knowledge of tooling, material characteristics, and general manufacturing and machining practices.
