Essential Functions:
- Attention to Detail
- Monitors records and reports symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
- Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Records patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Prepares patient care area and assures sterile instruments, equipment or supplies, are available and PAR levels are maintained.
- Assure diagnostic tests are available for the surgeon to review.
- Monitors environmental sanitation.
- Performs skin antisepsis.
- Operates equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensures worker and patient safety.
- Manages specimens appropriately.
- Ensures radiation and laser safety.
- Positions patient.
- Monitors temperature to prevent hypothermia.
- Follows universal protocol.
- Performs surgical time-out.
- Documents charges correctly.
- Observes for and reports adverse effects to the medical provider.
- Ensures preauthorization procedure has been completed.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Current Nebraska Registered Nurse License
- Bachelor's degree in the Science of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Certification in Operating Room Nursing (CNOR) preferred.
Regulatory Requirements:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification or Basic EKG or Arrhythmia-identification certification.
Summary
Non-Exempt, Full-time Day Position
General Summary:
Performs a variety of clinical functions including orientation and training of new employees and participates in competency development. Responsible for the provision of care to patients who present for surgical services in the perioperative area which includes: Preoperative Care, Intraoperative Care and Postoperative Care. Assesses patient health problems and needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, and, maintains medical records. Performs a variety of duties in the operating room to assist the surgical team before, during and after surgical intervention.
