Job Description

Description

This is an experiential learning position that allows the Student intern to apply the theory and knowledge learned inside the classroom to the practical application and skills development within the department.

Opportunities Provided:

  • Applying knowledge gained in the classroom to the needs of the department. Work performed goes beyond advancing the operations of the department or the work completed by a regular student employee.
  • The skills and knowledge learned are transferrable to other employment opportunities.
  • Learning objectives/goals are clearly defined to relate to the professional goals of the student’s academic coursework.
  • The student will be supervised by a professional with expertise and educational and/or professional background in the field of experience.
  • Routine feedback is provided by the supervisor.
  • The department will provide resources, equipment and facilities to support the learning objectives/goals of the student internship.

Criteria for Internship:

  • The experience must be an extension of the classroom: a learning experience that provides for applying the knowledge gained in the classroom. It must not be simply to advance the operations of the employer or be the work that a regular employee would routinely perform
  • The skills or knowledge learned must be transferable to other employment settings.
  • The experience has a defined beginning and end and a job description with desired qualifications.
  • There are clearly defined learning objectives/goals related to the professional goals of the student’s academic coursework.
  • There is supervision by a professional with expertise and educational and/or professional background in the field of the experience
  • There is routine feedback by the experienced supervisor
  • There are resources, equipment, and facilities provided by the host employer that support learning objectives/goals

Requirements

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY for Community Impact Summer 2026 Internship Program, you will need to:  

  • International students must have completed INSPIRE program
  • Be a currently enrolled Pace student (undergraduate, graduate, and international students), graduating Dec 2026 or later.
    • All majors are welcome.
  • Before your internship start date, you must complete the Unleash Your Inner Professional Workshop provided by Pace Career Services.

Work hours and the number of weeks are placement-dependent, however, the internship must be completed by September 25, 2026. Exact schedule is to be determined with your host organizations supervisor; however, you may not work more than 35 hours per week during summer break and no more than 20 hours per week when the fall semester begins should your internship continue into the fall semester (but may not continue beyond September 25, 2026).

Summary

Work hours and the number of weeks are placement-dependent, however, the internship must be completed by December 19, 2026. Exact schedule is to be determined with supervisor; no more than 20 hours per week when school is in session and no more than 35 hours per week during breaks.
