Job Description:

Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, invites applications for a 12-month speech-language pathology clinical supervisor professional faculty position in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department beginning in August 2026. Candidates must be able to work until 7 pm at least two nights per week. 

Full-time clinical faculty primarily mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate CSD and SLP students during their clinical experiences during the fall, January-term, spring, and summer semesters. Other duties include participating in clinical staff meetings, participating in departmental recruitment efforts, writing letters of recommendation for undergraduate CSD majors, assisting with comprehensive examination evaluations, serving as an academic advisor, and/or serving on the graduate student selection committee. 

The Augustana CSD department has a well-established undergraduate program and started a master’s program in 2020 that is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech, Language, Hearing Association. For over eight decades, CSD students have completed practicum experiences in the Augustana College’s Roseman Center for Speech, Language, and Hearing, where a diverse caseload of over 100 clients is served each semester.

Requirements

A master’s or clinical doctorate degree in speech-language pathology, current ASHA certification, and Illinois state licensure (or eligibility to acquire licensure) are required. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in speech-language service delivery and clinical supervision of graduate and undergraduate student clinicians. Successful candidates  also will show interest in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in all aspects of speech-language service practice in and out of the clinical setting; strong interest in developing and strengthening relationships within the department, campus, and Quad Cities community; commitment to providing a high quality clinical education in the context of a liberal arts education; ability to respect and actively support the work of other colleagues; a commitment to fostering equity and inclusion; and outstanding time management, written communication, and verbal communication.  

Experience and interest in working with students and community members of many backgrounds will be an asset for applicants.

 The budgeted compensation for this position ranges from $58,000 to $62,000 per year based upon minimum and preferred qualifications, education, experience, skills, and abilities. Actual placement within the range will depend upon experience, education, research, and other relevant factors.
