MAINTENANCE WORKER/DAY LABORER
JOB DESCRIPTION
SALARY: $15.00 per/hour
~Positions are Temporary ~
~Only for duration of summer projects. Tentatively through 8/7/2026~
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) High School Diploma.
(2) Possess valid Driver's License.
(3) Or other appropriate certificates/licenses required by the District.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of lawn care. Ability to operate power machinery. Skill in service and minor repair of equipment. Skill in reading, interpreting and applying information in Technical Manuals and other documents. Skill in the use of mathematics, especially estimating. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
REPORTS TO:
Foreman, Landscaping Crew
JOB GOAL
To provide grounds keeping and general equipment repair service for the District.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service Delivery
* (1) Operate industrial mowing equipment.
* (2) Maintain sports complexes.
* (3) Operate machinery and vehicle including forklift, backhoe, front-end loader and truck.
* (4) Repair driveways and parking areas.
* (5) Install and repair fences.
* (6) Trim plants, mulch and weed.
* (7) Remove debris from grounds.
* (8) Apply insecticide and fertilizer to grounds.
* (9) Assist other maintenance personnel as necessary.
*(10) Perform routine equipment service and repair.

*(11) Meet and deal effectively with the general public, staff members, students, parents, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
*(12) Follow attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.
*(13) Ensure adherence to good safety standards.

*(15) Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
*(16) Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
Inter/Intra-Agency Communication and Delivery
*(17) Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and administrators.
*(18) Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
*(19) Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
System Support
*(20) Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
*(21) Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies, rules and regulations.
*(22) Demonstrate support for the School District and its goals and priorities.
*(23) Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
*(24) Participate in cross-training activities as required.
(25) Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
(26) Shall assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force as frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
