Clinical Responsibilities
- Diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, adrenal and pituitary disorders, metabolic disorders, and hormone imbalances
- Provide comprehensive outpatient endocrine consultations and follow-up care
- Manage insulin therapy, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), insulin pumps, and other diabetes technologies as appropriate
- Perform and interpret thyroid and neck ultrasound imaging to support diagnosis and treatment planning
- Perform ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies and other office-based endocrine procedures as appropriate
- Interpret diagnostic testing, including laboratory studies, imaging, bone density scans, and endocrine function assessments
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication management, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate with primary care providers, specialists, diabetes educators, and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated patient care
- Document high-quality, compliant clinical notes in the EMR and support clinic access, throughput, and patient experience
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve outcomes (e.g., A1C optimization, care-gap closure, workflow standardization)
- Participate in practice call coverage and practice meetings as required
Required Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Board Certified or Board-Eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism
- Active Maryland physician medical license (or ability to obtain)
- Current DEA license and Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) license
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or approved provider)
- Unrestricted medical license with no history of suspension or revocation
- Eligible for participation with all payers
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in endocrinology preferred; new graduates with strong procedural training may be considered depending on practice needs
- Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based practice
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR experience preferred)
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
