Description of Work

The Senior Cloud Network & Security Engineer serves as the subject matter expert for enterprise cloud services provided by the System Office, with a primary focus on Microsoft Office 365, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure. This role ensures cloud platforms and services are designed, configured, and operated in alignment with the NC Statewide Information Security Manual, applicable regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

This position designs, operates, and supports secure, scalable cloud and network infrastructure across hybrid and multi-cloud environments providing services for the 58 NC Community Colleges, the System Office, and local, state, and federal partners.
The Senior Cloud Network & Security Engineer establishes policy, standards, and guidelines to ensure efficient and effective business operations, continuity, and security.

•Experience with cloud and computing principles (Microsoft Office 365 administration, Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud administration, Microsoft Azure Landing Zone, Microsoft Sentinel, Cisco Meraki, Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure, Center for Internet Security (CIS) Controls)

•Vulnerability management skills
•Experience developing systems documentation, standard operating procedures, and scripting
•Experience with Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and related technologies for managing Microsoft Windows environments
•Strong communication skills

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution, and four years of IT experience including three years of progressive experience in cloud-related systems infrastructure design, implementation, and management;

or
Associate degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of IT experience including four years of progressive experience in cloud-related systems infrastructure design, implementation, and management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
