BASIC FUNCTIONS:
- Provide the public with licensing and registration for all types of motor vehicles and trailers, including those required by the Department of Natural Resources; perform driver’s license and ID transactions; perform clerical and cashier duties related to such licensing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Licensing for Motor Vehicle, Driver’s License and Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
- Process routine applications for title transfer, corrections, renewals, new purchases and a variety of other situations for motorized vehicles and trailers.
- Process routine applications, renewals, transfers and corrections for all-terrain vehicles, boats and snowmobiles under Department of Natural Resources (DNR) statutes.
- Process routine driver’s license, enhanced driver’s license, REAL ID driver’s license, driver’s permit, REAL ID and Minnesota ID transactions, including verification of multiple identity documentation types in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Perform cashier duties related to transactions.
- Research routine inquiries for motor vehicle, driver’s license and DNR licensing. Provide appropriate temporary or duplicate documents as needed.
- Review work for accuracy and completeness.
Communication with Public
- Serve as the primary source of information for the public regarding motor vehicle, DNR, driver’s license and ID transactions and departmental processes and procedures.
- Respond to inquiries, inform and educate the public in person and by phone, emails and letters regarding departmental services, processes and procedures, as well as applicable laws and statutes.
- Serve as liaison with the general public, companies and other government agencies to exchange detailed and/or technical information. Maintain working relationships that are essential to the department.
Administrative Support
- Communicate with the state via internet, telephone and paper.
- Perform clerical support tasks related to individual documents received.
- Enter, verify, review and transmit all daily transaction information and reports to the state, electronically and by paper.
- Perform accounting functions for daily transactions, including balancing, reconciling, and preparing internal and external reports.
