Basic Purpose and Scope:
The Truck Shop Mechanic will diagnose, repair, and maintain all trucks, refrigerated trailers, food grade tanker trailers, forklifts

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and advanced maintenance on transportation related rolling stock for purpose of safety - 20%
- Inspects all braking systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, to ensure proper operating conditions - 10%
- Diagnoses malfunctioning equipment for repair recommendations regarding vehicle warranty - 30%
- Determines vehicle and equipment condition by conducting inspections, diagnostics checks, identifying worn or damaged parts - 20%
- Maintains vehicle repair records in truck shop software program - 10%
- Schedules repairs by prioritization includes warranty work scheduling - 10%
- Maintains in shop parts supply, creates purchase orders, work orders, as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration - Ongoing
- Responsibility to adhere to Food Safety policies and report food safety and quality concerns to their supervisor - Ongoing

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO PERFORM WORK:
- Education: 2-year certificate from college or technical school; 3 to 5 years verifiable related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in equipment repair field
- Certifications: CDL, Air Braking Systems, Forklift Repair
- Experience in use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power and pneumatic tools, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists
- Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, repair manuals, instructional text, and procedural manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with all contacts inside and outside of the company
- Must have strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to express ideas effectively and efficiently
- Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to meet attendance requirements
Travel Requirements:
- Travel up to 10% of the time should be expected
- Travel may be required with little warning and/or for extended periods of time. Off-site deployment of up to 2 weeks could be expected
