Position Purpose

















This position provides people leadership and operational oversight for the Transformation Manager team and ensures the successful execution and maintenance of System-Level Leader Alignment. The incumbent manages the optimization of operational outcomes by ensuring achievement of business goals through Key Performance Indicator (KPI) alignment, performance transparency, competency committee coordination, and continuous improvement. The Manager of Operational Excellence sets clear expectations, develops and coaches team members, allocates resources across initiatives, and partners with administrative and clinical leaders to identify performance gaps and coordinate process improvement (PI) initiatives and organizational response efforts to close those gaps. This role requires a proven record of delivering results, driving change, and leading teams in complex, cross-functional environments.




 




 




 
















Nature and Scope


















  • Oversight of system performance programming initiatives including (but not limited to) KPI alignment and tracking, identification, and remediation of performance gaps (often through competency committee work and PI efforts), and complex problem solving across multiple disciplines and divisions.

  • Provide transparency of business health for stakeholders to ensure successful achievement of larger goals. Supports team in performing troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and PI for course correction when KPIs and incremental targets are not met.



 



SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES:






    • Works cooperatively with senior administrative and clinical leadership to (a) measure, monitor, and deploy performance goals among all levels of leadership and staff through creating KPI alignment, (b) identify improvement opportunities in complex, multi-system environments using analytical and PI tools as well as industry standards and best practices, (c) establish expectations and measures of success for improvement initiatives, (d) determine resources (financial, staffing, data, etc.) and/or tactics needed to accomplish goals, and (e) manage, measure, and monitor the implementation of complex improvement efforts, including prioritization and resourcing across the Transformation Manager team.

    • With administrative and clinical leadership collaboration, demonstrates strong leadership capabilities through executing improvement efforts and strategy deployment from inception to completion, including maintaining a patient/customer-centered approach and empowering the people who do the work to improve the work.

    • Supports team in partnering with operational leaders to evaluate needs and determine methods for accomplishing business goals through efficient use of resources and team members including but not limited to the competency committee framework.

    • Leads, develops, and supports Transformation Manager team members through onboarding, goal setting, coaching, performance feedback, and career development; ensures consistent use of TMO standards, methods, and tools.

    • Works with others to demonstrate and communicate success, progress and organizational learning.

    • Serves as a technical and educational PI, Performance, and Strategy resource to the organization. Incumbent may be asked to teach, present, educate, and facilitate as needed to small and large audiences, both internal and external

    • Must exhibit not only the values of Renown Health, but also basic Project Management and Lean principles including continuous improvement, respect for people, scientific thinking, seeking perfection, and leading with humility.

    • May be asked to coordinate a calendar and schedule of the strategic and improvement activities occurring across the organization.

    • Demonstrates an advanced ability to anticipate the need for and deliver effective communication with all stakeholders.

    • Supports the continued maturity of the TMO through adoption of changes and new directives and by proactively collaborating with other team members.





 



Challenges for this position are to exhibit excellent communication, collaboration, organization, time management, analytical, and coaching skills. This role must be able to lead a team of professionals and monitor a breadth of improvement and strategic activities while taking ownership, assessing risks, and driving results. This position will collaborate with physicians, staff, leaders, SMEs, and data analysts to achieve world class performance in all areas of focus. The incumbent is challenged to creatively help others think scientifically, to meet constant deadlines, to expertly guide complex efforts in pursuit of achieving strategic goals, and to ensure standards established by the TMO are maintained. Incumbent must be self-motivated, independent, and adaptable in order to provide value in an ever-changing, complex environment.

Education:



Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely and effectively. Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in health science or management, industrial and/or systems engineering, business, or organizational change. Master’s degree in in similar field(s) required.



Experience:



Five or more years’ experience in a PI or program/project management role with a proven record of facilitating complex organizational projects and improvement efforts. Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills to interact with senior executives and other leaders required. Demonstrated experience with and understanding of health care operations, information and technology system complexities, project management, process design, strategy deployment, and/or outcomes improvement required. Formal leadership experience is preferred.

Certification and/or experience in change management, lean production, project management (PMP), or related field is required.



Computer / Typing:



Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
