Job Description

Dykema Gossett PLLC, a leading national law firm, is looking for an experienced AV Engineer. The AV Engineer is responsible for the design, support, and ongoing management of firmwide audiovisual systems, with a primary focus on conference rooms, collaboration technology, and webinars. This role ensures reliable, seamless connectivity across all offices and works closely with internal IT teams and third-party AV partners to deliver consistent, high quality AV experiences. The position reports to the Director of IT and plays a key role in new office buildouts and technology refresh initiatives, partnering with AV contractors to deliver consistent, high quality AV experiences. This position is open all our office locations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and support firmwide conference room AV setups, including hardware, software, and collaboration platforms, to ensure reliable connectivity and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve AV issues in partnership with local Technology Support teams and centralized IT resources.
  • Serve as the AV subject matter expert for conference rooms, meetings, and collaboration spaces across all offices.
  • Lead AV planning discussions for new office buildouts and renovations, including requirements gathering, design input, and technology standards.
  • Coordinate with third-party managed AV service providers to define scope, oversee implementation, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within expectations.
  • Monitor, manage, and support firmwide webinars, large meetings, and hybrid events, including live troubleshooting as needed.
  • Maintain and update conference room technology to align with firm standards and evolving business needs.
  • Develop and maintain AV documentation, room standards, and support procedures.
  • Provide regular updates, recommendations, and issue escalation to the Director of IT.
  • Travel to other firm offices as needed for deployments, upgrades, troubleshooting, and project work.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Information technology, Education, Business, or related field is preferred.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting audiovisual systems in a corporate or professional services environment.
  • Experience in a legal or professional services environment is preferred.
  • Strong experience with conference room technologies, collaboration platforms, and video conferencing solutions.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex AV issues involving hardware, software, and network connectivity.
  • Experience working with third-party AV vendors or managed service providers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects across different locations.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset, with the ability to support attorneys and professional staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting AV in a law firm or professional services organization.
  • Familiarity with firmwide webinar platforms and large‑scale virtual or hybrid events.
  • Experience participating in or leading AV aspects of office buildouts or major renovations.
  • Relevant AV or collaboration technology certifications (a plus, not required).
  • Experience in video editing and recording for firmwide meetings and town hall meetings.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and Team Pro Admin Center, Zoom Management and Webinar setup, ScreenBeam Management Tool, Logitech Sync, Neat, Crestron, etc.

 

Additional Information:

  • The Information Technology field requires that some of the job responsibilities be completed during non-business hours. In accordance with industry standards, Information Systems professionals should be flexible with availability when work must be done during non-business hours.

The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

  • Chicago: $115-130k
  • Los Angeles: $115-130k
  • Michigan Offices: $105-115k
  • Milwaukee: $105-115k
  • Minneapolis: $105-115k
  • Austin, Dallas, & Houston: $110-120k
  • San Antonio: $105-115k
  • Washington, D.C.: $115-130k

The offered salary will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, work location, individual skill set, previous/applicable experience, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
