    Lifeguard Job Description

     

    DATE: August 28, 2019

     

    TITLE: Lifeguard

     

    LOCATION: KHSD Pool(s)

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age of 16. This position requires thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques, diligence in work and attendance, an understanding of aquatic facility rules, policies, and procedures, and decision-making skills. Will be responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers by preventing and responding to emergencies. 

     

    No experience is required, although some experience in aquatics programs and lifesaving teaching is encouraged. Certifications or past certifications in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding are recommended. Training and Recertification will be available seasonally through the KHSD Aquatics Coordinator.

     

    A TEST ON GENERAL AQUATICS KNOWLEDGE AND SWIM CAPABILITY WILL BE REQUIRED  PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT. 

     

    A PRE-PLACEMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK IS REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT. 

     

    DUTIES OF POSITION: Responsible for recognizing and responding quickly and effectively in emergencies, enforcing all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations, completing records and reports, participating in regular in-service training sessions, maintaining fitness level (swimming skills, strength, and endurance), and completing additional duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
