Quality Inspector - Operations

What is a Quality Inspector?
The quality control inspector will conduct In-Process inspection of production components and assemblies. The inspector will monitor products and processes to determine if they meet and/or exceed the standards set by API, ISO, Downing. In-Process Inspections will check the following: Traceability through serial numbers or asset numbers if needed. Performing inspections for critical dimensional, sealing surfaces, and threaded connections.

In this role, you will:

  • Inspect products using gauges, micrometers, calipers, and vision prior to shipment or assembly and document via travelers
  • Audit paperwork to ensure the correct product assembled for jobs adhere to the Downing procedures/specifications
  • Assist in keep up of calibrated equipment
  • Initiate the non-conformances reports at the branch when product does not meet engineering requirements
  • Reconcile, inspect, sign and date shipments for accuracy and quality prior to leaving the facility (Final Inspection)
  • Assist with receiving inspections and NDE record keeping of 3rd party reports
  • Travel to all local locations within the same day, about 20% of the time (must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the company driver requirement to operate a company vehicle while traveling)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required and Preferred Experience:

  • 1-3 years of related experience In-Process inspection and API and ISO standards required
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit stand, walk, talk or hear, use hands to manipulate with fingers, handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. (SEF Energy employees shall not manually lift an item weighing more than 50 lbs., they shall utilize mechanical assistance devices. If mechanical assistance devices are not available, utilize a team lift.)
  • Wet humid conditions (non-weather), exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, vibrations
  • Ability to see at close distance (clear vision at 20 inches or less), identify and distinguish colors, observe an area that can be seen up and down or left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point
  • Moderate to loud noises

Education:

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Previous NDE certifications in MT, PT, UT preferred
